Bio
Recruited from Hamilton in western Victoria, Stewart Anderson established himself at St Kilda as a tough defender, famously playing through a concussion during the club's legendary "15 men" victory over North Melbourne in 1933 where the Saints held on despite having no fit players left on the bench. After a brief departure to serve as playing coach for VFA club Oakleigh in 1936, he returned to the league the following year with North Melbourne and was reinvented as a spearhead. In a quirky slice of football history, Anderson finished as the Kangaroos' leading goalkicker in 1937 with just 18 goals—all of which were booted in the opening five rounds—setting a record for the lowest winning tally in the club's history that stood unmatched for over 80 years.
