Stats
Bio
Recruited from Sale in Gippsland, Stewart McLatchie was a decorated World War I veteran and Military Medal recipient who carved out a reputation as a dangerous goal-kicking rover. Despite his diminutive 170cm frame, he was a prolific scorer for a midfielder, booting over a century of goals for Carlton and frequently hurting opposition sides when drifting forward. His tenure at Princes Park saw him represent Victoria five times and serve as the Blues' first rover in the closely fought 1921 Grand Final loss to Richmond. After six seasons as a key component of the Carlton mosquito fleet, McLatchie made a brief switch to Fitzroy in 1925 before departing the VFL to finish his playing days with a premiership at VFA club Brunswick.
