Bio
A product of Haileybury College and the Richmond Under-19s, Stuart Edwards was a talented key position prospect who made an immediate impact at senior level. Standing 196cm with a booming left-foot kick and strong hands, he claimed the club’s Best First Year Player award in 1992 after impressing as a versatile tall capable of playing forward, back, or in the ruck. His progress was stalled by persistent leg injuries that ruined his 1993 season, but he fought back to become a serviceable foil for Brendon Gale and emerging superstar Matthew Richardson in a triple-tower forward line during 1995. Despite showing flashes of brilliance—including a career-high five goals against North Melbourne—Edwards could not overcome his fitness battles and departed Punt Road after just three appearances in the 1996 season.
