Bio
Recruited from Dingley via the St Kilda Thirds, Stuart Trott broke into the senior side the year following the club's famous 1966 premiership, quickly establishing himself as a polished and reliable wingman. Renowned for his smooth movement and precise delivery, he became a key figure in the Saints' midfield during a competitive era, playing a major role in the team's run to the 1971 Grand Final. His consistency was rewarded with the club's Best and Fairest award in 1972, and by 1974 he had ascended to the club captaincy, leading a squad that was beginning to transition away from its golden generation.
Trott's career took a surprising turn at the end of 1974 when, despite being the incumbent St Kilda captain, he was cleared to Hawthorn. The move added experience to a developing Hawks outfit, where he played a further three seasons as a utility and half-forward. While he contributed to Hawthorn's rise, he ultimately missed selection for their 1976 premiership side. Trott retired at the end of 1977 having reached the significant milestone of exactly 200 VFL games, later serving St Kilda off-field as a chairman of selectors and board member.
