Bio
Selected with pick 14 in the 1987 National Draft from Caulfield Grammarians, Stuart Wigney was a mobile key position prospect who spent his career alternating between the forward line and the ruck. Although he possessed the height and athleticism to impact aerial contests, Wigney found it difficult to command a regular spot in the senior side at Footscray, eventually prompting a series of moves that defined his status as a football journeyman. He transferred to Sydney for a single season in 1992, followed by a two-year stint with Adelaide and a final stop at Richmond, becoming one of the rare players to represent four separate clubs in such a short span. Despite showing promise as a marking target, his career was continually interrupted by injuries and form slumps, preventing him from fulfilling the potential suggested by his early draft selection.
