Bio
Recruited from Rose of Northcote as a 26-year-old mature-age prospect, Syd Billings broke into a powerhouse Fitzroy lineup fresh off their 1904 premiership. A high-marking defender who often manned the full-back position, he managed 13 games in his debut season but unfortunately missed out on selection for the club's 1905 flag triumph. He remained a serviceable contributor in the back half for two subsequent seasons, playing his most consistent football in 1907 before eventually departing the VFL to play for Northcote and Williamstown in the Association.
