Stats
Bio
Recruited from Korumburra, Syd Reeves was a fearless utility who became a fixture of the Richmond lineup during the club's formative VFL years. Alternating between the back pocket and the centre, he built a reputation for his uncompromising attack on the ball, often sacrificing his own physical safety to win possession. His courageous style of play—which reportedly resulted in several broken noses—endeared him to the Punt Road faithful and saw him crowned the club's Best and Fairest in 1914.
Reeves remained a central figure as the Tigers transformed into a genuine powerhouse, culminating in an appearance in the 1919 Grand Final loss to Collingwood. He was awarded life membership that same year, acknowledging his decade of service, but his timing proved unfortunate; he departed to join Hawthorn in the VFA the following season, missing Richmond's breakthrough premiership in 1920 by a single year.
