Stats
Bio
Recruited from the North Melbourne Juniors, Syd Thom arrived at the Junction Oval during a particularly bleak period for St Kilda. Standing just 173cm, he was a diminutive figure likely suited to a roving or forward pocket role, and he was granted a brief trial in the senior side late in the 1910 season. The Saints were in the midst of a disastrous campaign that would ultimately see them claim the wooden spoon, and the club was cycling through local talent in search of competitive players. Thom managed just two appearances in the red, white, and black before departing the VFL scene, his career serving as a fleeting footnote in a difficult year for the club.
