Bio
Overlooked in the 2018 National Draft due to concerns regarding his professionalism, Sydney Stack was offered a lifeline by Richmond via the pre-season Supplemental Selection Period and made an immediate impact at AFL level. A versatile talent capable of playing as a rebounding defender or a pressure forward, Stack became a cult figure for the Tigers in 2019, finishing third in the Rising Star award and drawing praise for his unsociable physicality and natural football instincts. However, his career momentum was repeatedly stalled by off-field indiscretions and conditioning issues, most notably a breach of the league's COVID-19 return-to-play protocols in 2020 that resulted in a suspension and his removal from the Queensland hub. Despite flashes of brilliance in the VFL, Stack struggled to regain a permanent place in the senior side and was delisted at the conclusion of the 2022 season having played just 35 games.
