Bio
Taj Murray is a 199cm key defender who spent his 2026 draft year developing his craft with the Gold Coast SUNS Academy. Showing promising signs as a versatile tall, he put together a consistent body of work at under-18 level by featuring regularly in the Talent League. While playing primarily in defence, Murray also proved capable of pinch-hitting in the ruck to support his teammates around the ground. This regular football allowed him to build his experience and contest work against quality junior opposition. Murray stepped up to the representative stage as well, making multiple appearances at the 2026 National Championships where he continued to demonstrate his aerial competitiveness. Given his significant height and defensive traits, he represents an important part of Gold Coast's future plans. As a designated member of the Suns Academy, he is officially tied to the club. Gold Coast is widely expected to match any rival bid for him during the upcoming national draft, ensuring the key position prospect remains in their system.
