Bio
Recruited from VFA club Prahran, Tasman Roberts was a versatile tall who rotated between the ruck and the forward pocket, offering a physical presence and a consistent avenue to goal. He played three seasons at St Kilda, where he booted 22 goals, before crossing to Fitzroy for a single season in 1928 to close out his VFL career. He returned to the Association to play for Yarraville, but his time in senior football was cut short by a severe skull fracture sustained in a car accident in 1930. Roberts is often remembered today for the tragic circumstances of his death; after enlisting for World War II under the pseudonym "Albert Lyons" to bypass age restrictions, he was captured during the fall of Rabaul and died as a prisoner of war in 1942.
