Bio
Recruited from the Geelong Falcons, Taylor Adams entered the AFL system as a highly rated junior, taken with pick 13 by Greater Western Sydney in the 2011 National Draft. After two developing seasons with the Giants, he requested a return to Victoria, facilitating a high-profile trade that sent him to Collingwood while premiership defender Heath Shaw moved north. At the Magpies, Adams established himself as an elite contested ball winner and clearance specialist. Renowned for his two-way running and aggression at the stoppage, he became a central figure in Collingwood's engine room, culminating in a stellar 2020 campaign where he won the Copeland Trophy and earned All-Australian selection.
Despite his on-field consistency and leadership tenure as vice-captain, Adams' time at Collingwood ended with personal heartbreak, as a hamstring injury forced him to watch the club's 2023 premiership victory from the sidelines. Seeking to reclaim a primary midfield role after being squeezed out of centre bounce rotations by the Magpies' younger stars, he requested a trade to the Sydney Swans ahead of the 2024 season. Now serving as a seasoned veteran, Adams brings significant finals experience and hardness to the Swans' midfield group as he continues to chase the premiership success that narrowly eluded him at Olympic Park.
