Bio
Recruited from the Murray Bushrangers with pick 69 in the 2009 National Draft, Taylor Duryea carved out a reputation as a reliable and courageous small defender during a golden era for Hawthorn. While initially made to wait for his opportunity in a star-studded lineup, he cemented his place in the side to become a dual premiership player in 2014 and 2015. Known for his elite kicking skills and ability to quell dangerous small forwards, Duryea provided stability to the Hawks' backline before crossing to the Western Bulldogs during the 2018 trade period, seeking greater security as Hawthorn looked to regenerate its list.
At the Kennel, Duryea quickly established himself as a cool head in defence and a key on-field leader, eventually being elevated to the club's leadership group. His experience proved vital during the Bulldogs' run to the 2021 Grand Final, providing a steadying influence amidst a dynamic playing group. Despite battling injuries at various stages, he remained a durable and composed figure in the back half, offering mentorship to emerging defenders while maintaining a high standard of performance well into his thirties to notch over 200 career games.
