Bio
Recruited from Mortlake in Victoria's Western District, Ted Absolom was a follower and forward who made a brief appearance for the Magpies at the turn of the century. Standing 170cm, he broke into the senior side midway through the 1900 season, debuting in Round 8 and holding his spot for the remainder of the home-and-away campaign. While he managed to boot three goals during his eleven-game stint, his football career was ultimately curtailed by military service. Absolom left the VFL landscape to serve in the Second Boer War, enlisting with Kitchener’s Fighting Scouts in South Africa, distinguishing him as one of the many players of his era whose athletic prime was interrupted by global conflict.
