Stats
Bio
Recruited from Lalor, Ted Burgess arrived at the Western Oval during a lean period for the club under captain-coach Ted Whitten. A mid-sized utility standing 180cm, Burgess was granted his senior debut in Round 5 of the 1966 season against Fitzroy. He held his spot for five consecutive matches, showing an ability to find the footy with a respectable average of nearly 11 disposals per game, predominantly patrolling the flanks or midfield. Despite a consistent month of football, he was unable to impact the scoreboard or cement a permanent role in the starting 18. Following a loss to St Kilda in Round 9, Burgess was omitted and did not feature at VFL level again, concluding his brief top-flight career after just one season.
