Bio
Recruited from West Footscray, Ted Carroll was a diminutive rover whose VFL career was defined by a journeyman path across three metropolitan clubs. After struggling to break into the Footscray senior side, managing just two appearances in his debut season, he crossed to Melbourne where he played the bulk of his football as a handy midfield rotation and crumbing forward. Carroll found consistent selection difficult during his four years at the Demons, eventually moving to Collingwood for the 1978 season where he added a final four games to his record. Ultimately, he is remembered as a serviceable depth player who provided cover for multiple squads without ever quite securing a permanent place in a starting eighteen.
