Bio
Recruited from the Surrey Football Club during the tumultuous World War I era, Edward "Ted" Davey was a strongly built tall who rotated between the ruck and the forward pocket. Although his time at Punt Road was fleeting, he earned a distinct place in club folklore thanks to the Richmond Guardian, which noted his hefty frame by bestowing upon him the rather blunt nickname "Fat." He made his debut against Geelong in Round 8 of the 1917 season and managed to boot a single career goal during his short stint in the seniors. Unable to secure a permanent spot in a Richmond side that would eventually finish the year as semi-finalists, Davey's VFL career concluded after just four matches in his debut season.
