Bio
Recruited from University Blacks after playing school football at Assumption College, Ted Lees was a 194cm follower who offered Melbourne an imposing physical presence in the late 1960s. He made his debut in the opening round of 1967 but managed just two appearances before a severe ankle injury sustained in training ended his first season. Lees returned to add six games in 1968, showcasing his ability to impact the scoreboard with three-goal hauls against both Fitzroy and Collingwood. He left the VFL at the end of that season to pursue a legal career, subsequently enjoying a distinguished tenure in interstate leagues. This included representing Tasmania while playing for Devonport and later coaching Eastlake in the ACT, where he also earned representative honours for the territory.
