Bio
Recruited from Port Fairy, Ted Llewellyn was a versatile follower and forward whose VFL career was defined by a moment of selection heartbreak. After breaking into the Geelong side and featuring in the 1930 Grand Final loss, he was controversially omitted from the Cats' 1931 premiership team despite playing in the preliminary final win. Disillusioned, he requested a clearance to North Melbourne, where he established himself as a key contested player for the Shinboners, capable of holding down centre half-forward or pinch-hitting in the ruck. Llewellyn ascended to the club captaincy midway through 1935 following the retirement of Tom Fitzmaurice, but his leadership stint was cut short by a six-week suspension for striking, bringing an unceremonious end to his league tenure.
