Stats
Bio
Recruited from strong amateur side Old Paradians, Ted Murphy was a key defender who broke into the Richmond lineup during the club's golden era under Tom Hafey. Standing 188cm, he primarily played at centre half-back, where he combined a tough, physical approach with reliable disposal by foot. Murphy featured regularly during his debut 1968 season, showing promise as a structural pillar in defence, but found himself squeezed out of the senior side early the following year as the Tigers built momentum toward their 1969 premiership. Unable to cement a permanent spot in a star-studded lineup, he crossed to Prahran in the VFA midway through the 1969 season in search of regular senior opportunities before eventually finishing his career in local football with Blackburn.
