Bio
Recruited from Yarraville in the Victorian Junior Football Association, Ted Politz arrived at the Melbourne Football Club midway through the 1911 season to bolster the side's small man stocks. Operating primarily as a rover and forward pocket, he quickly established himself as a dangerous option near goal, maintaining a respectable strike rate of nearly a goal a game throughout his brief tenure in the VFL. His most consistent football came in 1912 when he featured in 14 matches, often proving a nuisance for opposition defenders at ground level. However, his momentum was stalled the following year when a nasty ankle injury sustained in Round 13 sidelined him for the majority of the season. Politz returned for a final farewell appearance in the last round of 1913 before departing the league just prior to the onset of the First World War.
