Bio
Born in country Victoria and recruited via North Melbourne CYMS, Ted Prendergast was a versatile follower and forward who burst onto the scene during Jock McHale's first season as coach. He made an immediate impact by booting two goals in each of his first two senior games, appearing to be a long-term prospect before a damaging knee injury against Fitzroy interrupted his progress. He managed a brief return late in the 1912 season but could not recapture his early form, eventually moving on to captain Flemington CYMS. Though his league career was limited to just five appearances, Prendergast later achieved significant distinction as a recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal during World War I and as a leading administrator for the Australian Golf Union.
