Stats
Bio
Hailing from Mirboo North, Ted Shiels arrived at Fitzroy during the 1929 season as a recruit from the Gippsland region. His VFL career was fleeting, consisting of just three consecutive appearances late in the year after making his debut against Geelong in Round 11. Unable to impact the scoreboard or cement a regular position in the senior side, Shiels wasted little time transitioning to the next phase of his football life. Rather than persisting in the metropolitan reserves, he departed the Brunswick Street Oval the following year to accept a senior coaching role with the Ararat Football Club in 1930, establishing a reputation as a country football leader despite his short stint at the top level.
