Bio
Arriving at the Lake Oval with the weight of a famous lineage, Terry Brain jnr was the son of South Melbourne's 1933 premiership rover of the same name. Recruited from Glen Iris, the younger Brain was built in his father's mould—a diminutive 175cm rover and forward pocket with natural goal sense. Despite the pedigree, he struggled to command a regular spot in the senior lineup, serving largely as a depth player during a lean era for the club. After debuting as a teenager in 1958, he drifted out of senior contention for the entire 1959 season before earning a brief recall for sporadic appearances across 1960 and 1961. Unable to replicate the sustained 141-game career of his father, he finished his time in the VFL as a fringe footballer with seven games and four goals to his name.
