Bio
Recruited from North Ringwood, Terry Cahill was a talented and gutsy rover who made an immediate impact at Windy Hill, winning Essendon's Best First Year Player award in 1976. A natural goal-kicker who could drift forward and hit the scoreboard, he appeared set for a long tenure in the red and black before his body began to let him down. His career is often remembered for a notorious incident in 1978 where he was knocked unconscious by St Kilda heavyweight Carl Ditterich, a brutal clash that sparked outrage among Bombers supporters. While Cahill showed immense courage to return and finish that season, persistent shoulder and ankle issues eventually forced him into premature retirement, cutting short the career of a promising midfield creative.
