Stats
Bio
Recruited from the Reservoir Colts, Terry Wight was a dashing defender best known for his blistering acceleration and attacking flair off the half-back flank. He enjoyed a breakout season under Tom Hafey in 1979, playing 19 consecutive games and regularly using his speed to turn defence into attack. However, his time at Victoria Park is defined by a heartbreaking selection squeeze; despite his consistent form, he was controversially omitted for the 1979 finals series, denying him a place in the Grand Final side that narrowly lost to Carlton. Wight did not feature for the Magpies again after that axing, eventually transferring to Footscray for a final three-game stint in 1981 before his VFL career came to a close.
