Bio
The son of Brownlow Medalist and club legend Gavin Wanganeen, Tex Wanganeen earned his place on Essendon's list via the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection in 2022 after initially being overlooked in the national draft. A small forward with natural agility and goal sense, he made his debut early in his first season and quickly endeared himself to fans with a memorable first goal against Brisbane. However, his time at Tullamarine was heavily hampered by persistent injuries, particularly a recurring foot issue, which restricted his ability to build continuity or match fitness at the senior level. Unable to add to his game tally after his debut year, he was delisted at the conclusion of the 2024 season.
