Bio
Recruited from the North Ballarat Rebels with pick 61 in the 2016 National Draft, Tom Williamson quickly emerged as a potential late-draft steal for Carlton. A dashing defender with a penetrating left boot and a combative approach to the contest, he impressed during his debut season before persistent back injuries derailed his progress, forcing him to miss the entire 2018 season and much of 2019. While he returned to become a regular fixture in the Blues' backline during 2020 and 2021, often utilized for his run and carry or lockdown capabilities, he struggled to fully cement a position in the best 22. Williamson took a leave of absence in mid-2022 to address personal issues and subsequently departed the club by mutual agreement later that year, concluding a six-season stint at Ikon Park that showed flashes of potential ultimately curtailed by physical and personal interruptions.
