Bio
Recruited from Mornington in the 1988 National Draft, Tim Allen was a key forward whose career was defined by the misfortune of being perpetually stuck behind three of the game's greatest ever goalkickers. At St Kilda, his opportunities were limited by the presence of Tony Lockett, though he managed to break into the senior side in 1992, playing 17 games and even polling three Brownlow votes in a win against Adelaide. Allen was traded to Hawthorn the following season in search of regular game time, only to find his path blocked by Jason Dunstall. After being delisted and thrown a lifeline by Geelong with pick 81 in the 1994 draft, he found himself third in line behind Gary Ablett Snr and Billy Brownless, managing just a single appearance for the Cats in the final round of the 1995 home and away season.
