Family

Recruited from local powerhouse St Joseph's, Tim Bourke was a towering 199cm ruckman who served as a depth player during a strong era for the Cats. The younger brother of Geelong ruckman and captain Damian Bourke, Tim made his senior debut in the opening round of 1989, effectively deputising for his sibling who was sidelined by injury. In a cruel twist of fate, despite being on the list while Damian battled long-term knee issues, the two brothers never played a senior match together. Bourke added four games in early 1990 but struggled to cement a spot in the side, eventually being traded to North Melbourne at the end of 1991 where he was delisted without adding to his tally. Post-football, he established a distinguished legal career, eventually being appointed as Victoria's Deputy Chief Magistrate.
