Stats
Bio
Recruited from Hawthorn in the Metropolitan Junior Football Association, where he had previously served as captain, Tim Collins was a goal-kicking rover who made an immediate impact at Melbourne. A natural leader with a sharp eye for the big sticks, he managed a tidy average of a goal per game during his two seasons in the VFL, providing a dangerous rotation through the forward line. His promising league career was brought to a premature halt in Round 13, 1915, when he suffered a severe knee injury against Collingwood that forced him into retirement. Collins subsequently enlisted in the AIF, rising to the rank of Lieutenant with the 39th Battalion and notably taking the field in the famous 1916 pioneer exhibition match in London before returning to Australia after the war.
