Bio
Recruited from South Fremantle with pick 19 in the 2016 National Draft, Tim English arrived at the Western Bulldogs as a highly touted but physically raw prospect. Standing 205cm, he was initially viewed as a long-term project who possessed the ground-level agility and kicking skills of a midfielder rather than the brute strength of a traditional ruckman. His early career required patience as he built the necessary frame to compete against mature bodies, often conceding dominance in hit-outs while compensating with his elite aerobic capacity and ability to act as an extra link player around the ground.
Over time, English evolved into one of the competition's premier mobile ruckmen, culminating in an All-Australian selection in 2023. His playing style is defined by his exceptional field kicking and intercept marking, allowing him to control play behind the ball or drift forward to hit the scoreboard. Despite persistent speculation regarding a potential return to his native Western Australia throughout his career, English remained a loyal figure at the Whitten Oval, solidifying his status as a key pillar in the Bulldogs' engine room.
