Bio
Recruited from the Wangaratta Rovers, Tim Rieniets began his VFL/AFL journey on North Melbourne's list in the mid-1980s but was unable to break into the senior side. Following his departure from Arden Street, he carved out a formidable reputation in the VFA with Coburg, becoming the only player to win consecutive Norm Goss Medals as best afield in the 1988 and 1989 Grand Finals. This dominance prompted Carlton to hand him a lifeline in the 1990 Pre-Season Draft, and he repaid the faith immediately by kicking a goal with his first kick in senior football against his former club, North Melbourne. A versatile utility who rotated between ruck-rover and defence, Rieniets played 24 games for the Blues over two seasons before returning to the state league. He finished his career as a genuine VFA/VFL legend, achieving the rare feat of winning premierships with three separate clubs—Coburg, Werribee, and Sandringham.
