Bio
Recruited from West Adelaide with pick 29 in the 2003 National Draft, Tim Schmidt was a talented forward-midfielder whose AFL journey was severely curtailed by injury. Possessing good pace and goal sense, he spent several seasons developing in the reserves before finally earning regular senior opportunities between 2007 and 2008. While he showed glimpses of his capability to play at the highest level, his body ultimately could not sustain the rigours of professional football. Schmidt was forced to announce his retirement in 2009 at the age of 23 following advice regarding a degenerative neck injury, though he subsequently remained in the game as a respected skills and development coach.
