Bio
Recruited from Woodville-West Torrens with pick 55 in the 2012 National Draft, Timmy Sumner was a versatile utility capable of providing run and defensive pressure at either end of the ground. He showed flashes of potential during his time with the Gold Coast Suns, playing 17 games across the 2013 and 2014 seasons where his athleticism and tackling were highlights. Despite signing a contract extension, Sumner's AFL career ended abruptly in early 2015 when he retired at just 20 years of age, citing a loss of passion for the elite level and a desire to return to South Australia to reconnect with his family and culture.
