Bio
Hailing from the Goldfields, Holmes was a tall, left-footed defender recruited from Subiaco with pick 37 in the 1997 National Draft. He joined West Coast during a transitional phase but found it difficult to bridge the gap between state and national level football, managing just seven senior appearances across three seasons. Primarily stationed across half-back, he struggled to find the football at the elite level and notably finished two of his matches without recording a single disposal. Delisted at the end of 2000 having never played in an AFL victory, he returned to the WAFL where he enjoyed significantly more success, becoming a dual premiership player and a long-serving stalwart for the Lions.
