Bio
Recruited from Goroke in the Wimmera region, Tom Burns was one of many service personnel who donned the Hoops during the manpower shortages of the Second World War. Serving with the RAAF, Burns joined the Geelong list in 1944 to help fill the void left by regular players deployed overseas, presenting as a solid utility at 180cm. He proved to be a capable avenue to goal during his short stint at Kardinia Park, booting five majors across just six senior appearances. His brief VFL career was typical of the era, serving as a vital "war-time" contributor who ensured the club could field a competitive side before he moved on following the conclusion of the 1944 season.
