Bio
Recruited from Leopold, Tom Clancy’s top-level career began with a solitary appearance for South Melbourne in 1908 before a stint in the VFA with Williamstown paved the way for a successful return to the league with Carlton. Establishing himself as a consistent wingman, Clancy became a regular fixture at Princes Park, though his tenure was defined by near-misses and selection drama. After playing in the Blues' 1910 Grand Final defeat, he was sensationally dropped for the 1914 premiership decider following a disagreement with the coaching staff. The fallout prompted a move to arch-rivals Collingwood, where he immediately slotted into the side for the 1915 Grand Final, only to suffer defeat once again, leaving him as a serviceable veteran who fell just short of the ultimate success.
