Teams

Recruited from Albury in the Ovens & Murray Football League, Tom Davey was a solidly built prospect who made a brief appearance for Hawthorn just prior to the war years. Standing 183cm and weighing 85kg, he possessed the physical dimensions of a key position player, a trait that earned him a trial at Glenferrie Oval during the club's struggle to rise from the bottom of the ladder. He broke into the senior lineup late in the 1939 season, making his debut in Round 16 and retaining his spot for the following week before falling out of selection. Davey did not manage to impact the scoreboard during his two games and his VFL career went no further, effectively curtailed as the competition entered the tumultuous wartime era. He later served his country in World War II, enlisting in the Army in 1943, and eventually returned to the Albury district where he lived out the remainder of his life.
