Bio
Recruited from Hawthorn in the Victorian Junior Football Association (VJFA), Tom Davey joined Melbourne for the fledgling league's second season in 1898. He earned immediate selection, making his debut in the club's opening round victory over St Kilda at the Junction Oval. Davey served as a reliable contributor during a strong year for the Redlegs, managing eight senior appearances as the club pushed toward the premiership decider. He featured in the senior side as late as Round 14 against Geelong but was omitted for the subsequent sectional finals series and the Grand Final loss to Fitzroy. His time at the top level concluded after just one season, and his life was cut tragically short less than a decade later when he passed away in 1907 at the age of 31.
