Bio
Originally recruited from Kerang in northern Victoria, Dunne established himself as a reliable defender capable of holding down key posts or playing on a flank. His time at Richmond was defined by a remarkable recall during the 1931 finals series; after failing to play a single senior match during the home-and-away season, he was magneted into the side at centre half-back for the semi-final to replace Maurie Sheahan. He retained his place for the Grand Final against Geelong but suffered his second premiership defeat, having previously manned a half-back flank in the Tigers' 1929 loss to Collingwood. Seeking further opportunities after his stint at Punt Road, he crossed to North Melbourne for the final two seasons of his VFL career, serving as an experienced head in the Kangaroos' defence.
