Bio
Arriving at Melbourne carrying one of the most famous surnames in the club's history, Tom Flower was the younger brother of legendary wingman Robert Flower. Recruited from Murrumbeena, he operated primarily as a half-forward with a keen eye for goal rather than mimicking his brother's sweeping role on the wing. He showed early promise after debuting in the opening round of the 1977 season, managing to average better than a goal a game during his tenure at the top level. While he enjoyed the opportunity to feature alongside his sibling in the red and blue, Flower was unable to cement a long-term position in the senior side, departing the VFL after the 1979 season to return to suburban football.
