Bio
Recruited from North Shore in the local Geelong league, Tom Floyd was a tenacious, hard-tackling rover who made his VFL debut as a 17-year-old. He enjoyed a breakout season in 1980, utilising his explosive pace and goal sense to play 22 games—including a Preliminary Final—while finishing third in the Cats' goalkicking. Despite this promise, he struggled to retain a regular senior spot the following year, featuring in Geelong's 1981 reserves premiership side instead. In a rare move for the era, Floyd transferred to Collingwood midway through the 1982 season, seeking greater opportunity at Victoria Park. While he added immediate speed to the Magpies' on-ball division, his stint in black and white was short-lived, and he departed the VFL at the conclusion of the 1983 season.
