Bio
Recruited from the Tassie Mariners with pick 20 in the 2006 National Draft, Tom Hislop arrived at Essendon as a highly-rated prospect known for his aggression and contested ball-winning ability. Although he showed early promise as a hard-nosed midfielder who thrived on physical contact, his tenure at Windy Hill was abruptly terminated mid-2008 following repeated disciplinary breaches. Handed a lifeline by Richmond in the subsequent Pre-Season Draft, Hislop brought intensity to the Tigers' midfield and occasionally drifted forward to impact the scoreboard, but his second chance was hampered by persistent injury concerns, including chronic knee issues. Unable to secure a consistent spot in the best 22, he was delisted at the conclusion of the 2011 season, leaving the top level as a tough competitor whose career was ultimately curtailed by a combination of off-field maturity struggles and body durability.
