Bio
Hailing from the small Goulburn Valley town of Kotupna, Tom Laurenson was a country recruit who joined Fitzroy for the 1929 season. He was immediately thrust into the action, making his debut in the opening round against Footscray at the Western Oval. After the Maroons suffered a narrow nine-point loss, Laurenson was omitted from the side but worked his way back for a recall in Round 4 against St Kilda. However, following a heavy defeat to the Saints, he was dropped from the senior list and did not feature again. His brief VFL career was typical of many bush footballers of the era who found it difficult to cement a spot in a competitive city side, particularly one like Fitzroy that would go on to play finals that year.
