Bio
Born in Scotland, Tom Leather was a polished, left-footed half-forward who played a brief but notable cameo for North Melbourne in the early 1930s. Educated at Caulfield Grammar, he possessed natural athletic ability that saw him kick 11 goals in just 16 games, but his football career was ultimately curtailed by his rising status as an elite cricketer. A fast bowler who represented Victoria and toured India with the Australian cricket team, Leather prioritized the summer sport during his prime athletic years, leaving his VFL tenure short-lived. He later resurfaced in the VFA with Williamstown following a transfer from St Kilda's list, closing out a career best defined by his versatility as a dual sportsman rather than sustained footballing success.
