Bio
Recruited from the local leagues, Tom MacKay was a prolific forward whose VFL statistics belie his prodigious scoring ability at the district level. After breaking into the Geelong senior side for a handful of games in 1932, he returned to East Geelong in the GDFL, where he cemented his status as a local legend by booting a staggering 23 goals in a single match against North Shore in 1933. This undeniable form earned him a recall to the VFL for the 1935 season, where he operated as a dangerous option near the big sticks and maintained a better than goal-per-game average. Although he was unable to secure a permanent spot in the Geelong lineup long-term, MacKay remains best remembered as a district sharpshooter who could tear a game apart on his day.
