Bio
Recruited from Katandra in the Goulburn Valley after attending Assumption College, Tom Magee was a tall winger and midfielder who played the majority of his VFL football with Fitzroy. Standing 183cm, he offered a significant height advantage on the flank and became a regular for the Lions over three seasons before crossing to Melbourne in 1954. His tenure with the Demons was brutally cut short by misfortune; after playing just one senior game—in which he kicked a goal—Magee suffered a fractured cheekbone and severe concussion in a Reserves match. The incident, which resulted in an eight-week suspension for the opposing player, effectively ended his VFL career, though he later continued playing in the VFA with Caulfield and Yarraville.
