Bio
Recruited from West Perth in the WAFL, Tom Marinko hailed from a renowned Western Australian football family but faced a frustrating start to his VFL career due to a protracted clearance dispute. The standoff forced the 193cm prospect to sit out of football for two full seasons, finally allowing him to debut for St Kilda in 1964. Capable of playing as a ruckman or key defender, Marinko struggled to cement a regular spot in a Saints lineup that was rapidly building toward its famous 1966 flag. After 12 games over two seasons, he transferred to the VFA, where he found significant success with Prahran, playing in the Two Blues' 1970 First Division premiership side and earning the Best Clubman award before his life was tragically cut short at age 39.
