Bio
Recruited from South Adelaide in the SANFL, Tom Ryan was a tenacious small man who crossed the border to join South Melbourne in the post-war era. Standing just 173cm, he established himself as a versatile utility capable of gathering possessions as a rover or locking down small forwards in the back pocket. He became a reliable fixture in the Bloods' lineup for five seasons, offering defensive stability and ground-level support during a period where the club hovered around the middle of the ladder. After more than 60 games at the highest level, Ryan departed the VFL to take up a captain-coach role with Stanhope in the Goulburn Valley.
